
Mahroo Movahedi ist eine international arbeitende Multimediakünstlerin, die in ihrer Praxis bewusst die Grenzen zwischen Video, Audio, Malerei, Druckgrafik und Fotografie auflöst. In ihrem Werk untersucht sie, wie sich Landschaft, Sprache und Kultur überschneiden und miteinander verflochten sind, und hinterfragt dabei zentrale Fragen von Zugehörigkeit, Identität und Verlust.
Ihr künstlerischer Ansatz bewegt sich zwischen dokumentarischer Genauigkeit und experimenteller Freiheit. Mit feinem Gespür für die Wirkung audiovisueller Elemente entwickelt sie dichte, atmosphärische Narrative, die persönliche Erfahrungen mit kollektiven Fragestellungen verweben. Movahedis Arbeiten sind geprägt von einer tiefen Auseinandersetzung mit transkulturellen Perspektiven: Als Künstlerin, die in verschiedenen kulturellen und sprachlichen Räumen zu Hause ist, reflektiert sie eindrücklich, wie Identität durch Bewegung, Erinnerung und den Austausch zwischen Kulturen fortlaufend neu entsteht.
In ihren Projekten öffnet sie Räume der Begegnung, in denen intime und zugleich universelle Themen behandelt werden. Movahedi lädt ihr Publikum dazu ein, vertraute Vorstellungen zu hinterfragen und neue Sichtweisen auf die eigene Verortung in einer globalisierten Welt zu entdecken.
Mahroo Movahedi is a visual artist from Isfahan, Iran. She received her BA and MFA from Iran in Painting and holds a Master in Transdisciplinary Arts from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in Switzerland.
She uses painting, printmaking and photography as her medium for her artworks that usually helps her in creating new ideas. With an outstanding eye for color and texture, she employs these two elements as the most notable factors in her artworks.Her ideas comes from her imagination and intuition. She is always fascinated by blending traditional and modern.Another part of her work focused on collage techniques and make it possible for her to go into the mixed-media.
Due to her move to Switzerland she has entered into the interdisciplinary arts areas that has opened a new chapter in her artworks. Mahroo explores themes of culture, landscape and language questioning the notion of identity and sense of belonging.The audio-visual elements of her work shift in the shapes of documentary-experimental style. Mahroo Movahedi engages with the representation(s) of self and other through the lens of her experience of living in and between different spaces, cultures and languages.
She is the winner of Young Art Award 2016 at Ute Barth Gallery in Zurich and she participated and exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions during her professional career in Iran and Switzerland.
